Eclipses are times of greatly amplified polarity when the pull of the light and dark is reversed. Within this magnified energy is a potent opportunity to bring about quantum changes, accelerated manifestation and integration of vast amounts of energy into the pranic body.

We are blessed with two eclipses in September! The first, an annular solar eclipse, comes September 1st. The second, a penumbral lunar eclipse is September 16th. Two eclipses so close together like this create a kind of cosmic portal rich with possibility.

This is a time of intense everything. Emotions are high, feelings exaggerated. You might feel destabilized and confused. You’re being pulled in a million directions. That’s okay. The polarities are being activated with in you as well as outside of you. Anything that has a charge will be “lit up”.

It’s best not to make any big decisions right now, but just allow this energy to move through you. If it’s too intense, simply drop into your heart by closing your eyes and drawing all of your awareness to your breath until you feel re-centered.

Your words and thoughts will be powerfully magnetic during this portal! Do not get caught up in the negative mind, but think and speak into existence your deepest truths and desires. Know that, used intentionally, this amplification can help you draw in tremendous power to call these things into creation.

The magnetics of an eclipse caused by the intense polarities at play can create chasms in the ether. These rifts allow you access deep into the subconscious. This is an invitation to re-pattern any old, worn-out thoughts and beliefs. If you notice negativity, old trauma, or unhealthy behaviors coming to the surface, simply observe them. Going into resistance will actually block the flow and lock the pattern back in. Trust that their presence is a sign that they are moving up and out. Make your intention for that to happen clear.

Mantra is a very effective tool right now. (Remember, everything, including thoughts and words, are amplified during this time.) Mantra can help you to lay a new, and more elevated, track into the subconscious. You can try the very simple mantra Sat Nam, pronounced sut nam, like “but mom”. Sat Nam means truth is my identity, or my identity is truth. It is a bij mantra, or seed mantra, and has the ability to create a new pattern into the consciousness.

But the real gift of this eclipse portal is a rare and auspicious opportunity to clear the samskaras, or karmic patterns, which are held in the arc line (the line of energy that runs ear to ear, with an additional line from nipple to nipple on women.). Samskaras are embedded into your vibratory field from all of your lifetimes. They (more or less) determine the trajectory of your life.

By clearing the samskaras (karma) we give ourselves an amazing opportunity to embody our highest self and purpose in this lifetime. Karmic clearing is usually quite difficult, but if we use the energy of the ellipse to catapult us, we can make truly significant changes now.

Here is a simple, but potent, Kundalini Yoga practice which balances the hemispheres of the brain — working directly with our own sun and moon energies. This exercise also clears the arc line and strengthens and tunes our electromagnetic frequency (aura) so that we can stay stable during this time of tumultuous energy and utilize the great cosmic waves of the September’s eclipse portal.



Tune in by pressing your palms together and chanting the mantra ONG NAMO GURU DEV NAMO three times. Inhale, briefly hold the breath and exhale.




Sit in Easy Pose. Fully extend the arms out to the sides with the fingers stretched back from the palm and tensed like claws. The entire hand should be rigid and taut, like a lion’s paw. Alternately cross your wrists over your head and return your arms out to your sides, parallel to the ground. Keep the lion’s paw tight. Move powerfully and rhythmically. Begin a breath of fire, coordinating one inhale-exhale with each movement.

Continue for 9 minutes and then without stopping, stick your tongue all the way out and continue for 15 seconds more. Then inhale and hold the arms up at 60° for 15 seconds

Exhale. Repeat. Inhale and hold again for 30 seconds. Exhale and relax by singing the song “Nobility’ from the heart for 3-4 minutes or sit quietly breathing long and gently for 3-4 minutes.


Bring the hands together at the center of the chest, inhale deeply, exhale. Chant Sat Nam 1-3x.


*IMPORTANT* Please modify as needed for any injuries you have. Women who are on the first three days of your moon cycle (menstural cycle), you may choose not to do breath of fire, but just to use a natural, deep breath instead. If you have high blood pressure, do not hold the breath on an inhale as directed at the end of the exercise.

The song Nobility, mentioned above, is quite hard to track down in it's original form (the kriya was given in the 70's). Spirit Voyage recommends this modern version HERE. You do not need the song though, you may also just sit quietly and listen to any mantra or your breath.
